About Logo Sira's love of Middle Eastern music and dance is rooted in her Armenian heritage. Although she has been exposed to belly dance from a very young age, her professional training began in 1991 and she has entertained at countless events since then. She has been a member of Serena's Dance Company, Shoshana's Dance Theater Company, Jehan's Goddess Dance Productions, and Anahid Sofian's Dance Company. Sira also studied Middle Eastern Music History and Theory at Stonybrook University, which lends itself to her natural musicianship in dance. Her dance technique is authentic which has gained recognition by arabic audiences, while also being versatile enough in order to relate to an audience of any culture or age group. Sira's performances are known for her ability to command attention with a fiery soulful spirit and sheer, joy as well as grace and fluidity. Sira can be regularly seen dancing throughout New York City in various restaurants, clubs and other venues. Her years of experience, dedication to the art of dance, and her unique style have earned her the reputation of being one of the most popular bely dancers around.
High profile celebrities include Liam Neeson, Peter Gabriel, Wyclef Jean, Claire Danes, the cast of Sex and the City, John Legend, Robin Williams, Fabio, Nile Rodgers, hip hop artist Fabolous, comedian Dom Irrera, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, and famous Egyptian singer Hakim to name a few. Sira has also performed for Saudi Arabian royalty in London, England, and the Ambassadors to over 20 countries to the U.N. at an exclusive celebration of Egyptian culture in 2001. In 2002 and 2003, Sira was invited to be a guest performer at the United Nations during their annual festivities.

2008 - Sira was cast as the Solo Dancer in Thais at the Metropolitan Opera starring Renee Fleming

2007 - Belly dancer for production written and directed by William Peter Blatty (author of the Exorcist) in the Fringe Festival's "John Goldfarb, Please Come Home" at Skirball Center for Performing Arts
2006 - Lead performer in Anahid Sofian's Moroccan fusion production of "Marrakech" at the Rose Negelberg Theater
Other theater shows have taken place at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music, Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park and Bruno Walter Auditorium, Queens Theater in the Park, Evolving Arts Theater, DNA, Merce Cunningham, and Spring Garden Arts Theater (England). Clubs include the legendary Ibis supper Club and Cedar's of Lebanon for several years, Russian Tea Room, Rainbow Room, as well as a long list of other known establishments.
Sira has performed with successful gypsy punk fusion bands Gogol Bordello and Balkan Beat Box at Knitting Factory, SOB's, Joe's Pub, and South Paw.
International performances include engagements in London, England several years in a row and Cairo, Egypt.

Sira has appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, MTV, Good Morning America, Good Day New York, Channel 11 News, and coverage on Japanese, Indian and Russian programs. She is currently working on a performance/instructional DVD to be released in 2009. She was also featured in DVD's such as "Fantasy Bellydance", "Belly Dance Stars", and "The Way to Belly Dance".

Currently Sira is available for private instruction/coaching only. She taught from 1997-2000 at Serena Studios and 2003-07 at Jorday's Dance studio in NYC.
